An article in Forbes discusses the ratings given to online MBA programs by recent graduates and the results are encouraging. Graduates of online MBA programs reported definite positive impacts on their careers from their online MBA experience with nearly 40% reporting a promotion, over half reporting a raise in pay, and about 30% reporting being able to change jobs.
The survey conducted by the Poets&Quants website involved 1,583 current year graduates and contained a range of questions related to the MBA experience, including things like the ability to establish a network of contacts, and to develop good relationships with fellow students and faculty members. Poets&Quants also reports on students’ satisfaction for the leading online MBA programs.
While the student survey results seem positive, it is important to recall that there are no data presented comparing student experiences with online MBA programs and traditional on campus programs. Moreover, surveys of graduates may tend to overstate the positive dimensions of the programs since the sample only includes those who succeeded in completing the programs and since respondents may tend to confirm their own judgement in enrolling in the first place.
