Remote Learning Projects

An article by Emily Richmond in The Atlantic describes how teachers at Essex Tech in Massachusetts, are continuing career and technical education at a distance. Of particular note are the ways the teachers have adapted projects that would have been done face-to-face so that students could do them at home or in their neighborhoods.

This is a great illustration of the flexibility of the project method. Although there are some limitations of doing projects at a distance, such as less visibility for teachers, and less access to direct guidance for students, there are also some advantages cited by the teachers, such as having the students work under conditions similar to what they will encounter after leaving school and are on their own in the workplace.
