Fleece, Rinse, Repeat – From One Laptop Per Child to One AI Tutor Per Child

Writing in The Conversation, Niral Shah observes that the current movement to personalize learning by giving each student an AI tutor runs into at least limitations. First, there is a substantial body of research showing that learning is a social process and that students learn from a range of social interactions with other students and with teachers. Second, there is little to no research on the impact of AI in classrooms on students learning and development. What could possibly go wrong?
