Cashing Out

There has been talk about unbundling the university for more than a decade, and a new research brief from CB Insights provide a comprehensive look at the wide variety of service providers interested in taking pieces of what was once an integrated institution. The apparent motivation for universities is the perceived efficiency and cost effectiveness of outsourcing components, and for external providers it is, of course, the revenue from the business. Of course, once students and parents realize that the same services are widely available across universities that range widely in cost, there may be race to the lower tuition options.
