Amidst the many claims that AI will result in major scientific advances it is instructive to see just how quickly such technologies have been adopted across scientific communities. Writing in Smithsonian Magazine, Margherita Bassi reveals that authors submitting scientific papers for review are including hidden prompts in white text to instruct AI reviewers to give positive reviews. Issues of advancing science aside, we may be well on our way to automating the insularity of some scientific communities.
