Writing in TechRepublic, Veronica Combs reports on the results of Digital.AI’s State of Agile Survey conducted in the spring of 2021. The survey showed that the growth of agile practices in development teams is accelerating. In spring 2021 84% of development teams reported using agile practices compared the 37% in the 2020 survey.
Agile practices are also spreading beyond IT into other areas in 52% of the companies represented in the survey. The benefits of shifting to agile ways of working cited included increased productivity and morale. The management of distributed teams was also cited as a benefit.
Because agile practices move authority to direct activities to the teams involved in doing the work, they represent a step forward for self-directed learning for individuals and carry the seeds of a new form of organization more suited for the post-industrial era.
