An introduction to multiple normative perspectives on the activities connected to progress in our capacity to examine learning and learners, represented most notably by the rise of learning analytics. Learners will develope strategies for framing and responding to the range of values-laden opportunities and dilemmas presented to the research, policy, and practice communities as a result of the increasing capacity to monitor learning and learners.

We will use the project method. Be sure to review the project method in the Latrlab introductory journey. We will move through five projects that build on one another and culminate in a final project. The weekly background readings and activities are designed to help you prepare for the project work, and provide opportunities for collaboration with your project group and advance your projects. 

The five projects are designed to move through major topics that you are likely to encounter in your work on an analytics team. The projects are:

Project 2 – Learning Application Data

Project 3 – Learning and Development Data

Project 4 – Governmental Data

Project 5 – Data for Enhancing Learning Startup
