Writing in the Harvard Business Review, Rae Ringle identifies six questions to ask when considering when it is necessary to meet face-to-face. Each of these questions highlights a different set of issues concerning face-to-face vs virtual meetings starting with should this even be a meeting and continuing with goals and objectives, alternative formats, questions of inclusion, and the skills required to hold a successful online session. As more of us return to the workplace with the new habits we have acquired while at home during the pandemic, these questions can help us be more thoughtful in planning productive encounters.
