Writing in The Verge, Mitchell Clark discusses his experience using OpenAI’s open source neural network to transcribe voice to text. Clark considers the prospects for using the application, called Whisper, for transcribing interviews conducted by journalists. He describes the process for setting it up which may be a bit too complicated for some as well as an effort to reduce the complexity by developers of a related application called Stage Whisper. Developments like this one may soon offer researchers who use recorded interviews to gather data a low cost way to transcribe interview date.
