Pantry Pancakes

Ingredients

Pancake Batter From Pantry Staples
1 ½ cups Flour
3 ½ tsp Baking Powder
1 tbsp Sugar
1 ¼ cups Milk
1 Egg
3 tbsp Butter, Melted
Syrup From Pantry Staples
2 cups Brown Sugar
1 cup Water
½ cup Butter, Melted
½ tsp Vanilla or Maple Extract

Directions

Pancakes

Sift together flour, baking powder, and sugar in a large bowl.

Add the milk, egg, and melted butter and mix until smooth.

Heat a frying pan or griddle and pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake.

Brown pancakes on both sides and serve.

Syrup

Combine the brown sugar and water in a medium size saucepan. (If brown sugar is not available, make your own brown sugar by mixing 2 cups white sugar with 2 tablespoons molasses.)

Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is entirely dissolved.

Lower heat to medium and allow mixture to boil for 4 minutes.

Add butter and still until butter has dissolved.

Remove from heat and add extract if desired.

Cool syrup for 5 minutes before using over pancakes.
