Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

3 cups All Purpose Flour
1 tbsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
¾ cup Unsalted Butter
1 ½ cups Buttermilk

Directions

Place flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl and whisk to combine.

Grate the butter on the large holes of a box grater over the flour mixture add use your hands to work the butter into the flour mixture.

Add the buttermilk and mix until the dough forms a sticky ball.

Turn the dough out onto a flour-dusted work surface and pat into an 8 inch square. Knead the dough 10 times by folding it in half and then patting it down, rotating the dough 90 degrees after each fold.

Pat the dough into a 6 x 8 inch rectangle. Use a chef’s knife to cut the dough straight down into twelve 2 inch squares.

Transfer the biscuits to a baking sheet lined. Bake in oven at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes.

To freeze biscuits for baking later, place biscuits on a baking sheet, freeze for 4 hours, and place in a sealed bag. Place frozen biscuits 1 inch apart on a baking sheet in a 400 degree oven for 16 to 18 minutes until golden brown and doubled in height.
